notmovingpictures Episode 057: Road Trip Talk

Finally Tommy has returned! As promised this episode comes from the recent road trip to Dallas on our way to see Testament, Sepultura and Prong. Be forewarned, this was recorded in Tommy's truck with Chris and Robbie in the back so there is a lot of noise but that cannot be avoided. Luckily it's not too bad. As usual we talk about politics, especially those here in Oklahoma, specifically how the elected officials in this state have decided that they know what's best for the people, so they can ignore what was voted on.

We talk about the bureaucracy that is the U.S. government, what's wrong with the medical insurance here (i.e. we have no real choices) and once again how marijuana should be legalized and what a complete joke Scott Pruitt is. All that and more, plus we also recorded another episode on the way back home the next day which will be coming soon.

notmovingpictures Episode 028: Losing Friends, Unrealized Dreams And Other Things

It's time for a solo rant again. Some things have been weighing on my mind as of late and I just had to get them out. I've been reading this journal that I briefly wrote in at the time that I was almost out of the Army in 1995 and then afterwards. It's made me realize that even back then I was a major procrastinator. I wrote about so many things that I wanted to do and even intended to do but never did. In fact, I recently have been slowly moving towards doing spoken word poetry and even fusing that with music but I basically was talking about doing just that thing all those years ago. Perhaps back then it wouldn't have amounted to anything and now is the right time. I have always been a late bloomer in life.



I also have had a few things happen with friends such as an old friend that I had to cut loose because he was just toxic to me and another incident that I don't really wish to share the details of. So I muse on losing friends and if I ever really knew him. I've got enough turmoil in my life as it is and I don't need any more from a supposed friend. I also speak about how societal wise this country is moving towards making you pay for your mistakes or actions from decades before now. As if you could never grow and learn from what you've done in the past. It's insane in my opinion.

Another thing I meander around is being stuck in a job or place in life where you can't do or say things without worrying if it will jeopardize your job. Of course a common subject on the podcast is that I feel  marijuana should be legal, medical or otherwise. There's a few other things I delve into like the whole Ebola scare and manufacturing fear but I'll let you hear it all for yourself. The past week or so has been a reflective period for me, one spent thinking about what was, what is and what may be. Nothing too deep, right? Right. That's what I do, think deep, sometimes too much so, and learn what I can.

notmovingpictures Episode 027: Talking About Alloy, Pain Relief And More

Luck was with me Saturday night, I was able to go to Tommy's and hang out for awhile. While we were doing our usual talking I decided to break out the recorder and get another episode on the books. It is always hard for us to get together so when we do I try and record. It doesn't always happen though. This time we talk about Tommy's band Alloy who haven't been shall we say, operational. Well, they've got a show lined up for November 13th at The Shrine. We also talk about a different project merging spoken word and music together for Me, Tommy and his son Chris. As we shift to discussing taking a chance and realizing your dreams, doing it instead of thinking about doing it, we then progress to pain relief. Specifically medical marijuana, CBD oil, Kratom, Kava Kava and more. It's a lengthy talk over a vast array of topics and it's pretty cool, at least from my standpoint.

notmovingpictures Episode 022: The Boys Are Back

Well, well, well. Look at this, as predicted we are back with another episode so very quickly and this one has both Tommy and Don. It's been five months since we were able to get together and record something and we end up going for almost an hour, how's that for stamina? Among the topics discussed were what happened on the 4th of July (Don got hit by fireworks), the lack of any road trips since the Iron Maiden one, the status (or lack of thereof) of Tommy's band Alloy and how recently Don finally came to grips with what is the definition of poetry. Expect an episode of Don's spoken word poetry sometime in the future, who knows when he'll get around to it. Then the talk shifts to the recent move to get a medical marijuana initiative on the ballot for the next election and how ridiculous the anti-marijuana laws are in this country. All in all a pretty good conversation.
